Clarinet

Ryan Toher, from Arlington Heights, Illinois, is the 2nd/Eb Clarinet of the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal. Prior to his appointment with the OSM, he served as Acting 2nd/Eb Clarinet with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra from 2020-2024. He has performed as guest principal with the New York Philharmonic, Detroit, Toronto, Baltimore, and St. Louis Symphony Orchestras. In addition, he has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Pacific Symphony, and New World Symphony. Toher has been a fellow at the Verbier Music Festival, Tanglewood Music Center, Spoleto Festival USA, Music Academy of the West, New York String Orchestra Seminar, Sarasota Music Festival, and National Orchestral Institute. He was the grand prize winner of the Vandoren Emerging Artists Competition in 2018 culminating in a trip to Paris. Toher holds degrees from the University of Southern California and Oberlin Conservatory of Music where he studied with Yehuda Gilad and Richard Hawkins, respectively.
