Edith Szendrey

Canadian-born violinist and violist Edith Szendrey founded the HPAF Junior Program in 2013, and the SDFestival Junior Program with Chee Yun Kim and friends in 2017 to the delight of many young students, parents and audiences alike. Of Hungarian roots, she holds a Bachelors degree in Music from the University of British Columbia. In addition to inspiring young musicians for over a decade, she has performed in many chamber music concerts with the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, the San Francisco Choral Society and the Arlekin String Quartet. She is an experienced and versatile musician, having worked with many local Bay Area Symphonies including the Marin Symphony and the San Francisco Opera Orchestra. A sought-after pedagogue, Edith is currently the music director, orchestra conductor and strings teacher at the Greenwood School in Mill Valley, CA. Edith also enjoys exploring nature with her children, fishing with her husband, walking her dogs at dawn, swimming under the stars, and hiking with her camera.
