Andrew Kam is the current Orchestra Director at Bellevue High School, and Conductor of the Cadet String Orchestra with Bellevue Youth Symphony. He is a violinist with Symphony Tacoma and performs chamber music as a member of LMC Seattle. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, Andrew graduated from Mid-Pacific Institute and is a Hawaii Youth Symphony alumnus. While his primary focus is on public school music and youth orchestras, Andrew continues to perform as a classical violinist and violist. He performed Henry Thacker Burleigh’s Southland Sketches on Classical King FM in 2022 and has recorded for Ray Dalton (O Holy Night and In My Bones, 2020) and Kesha (Praying, 2017). Andrew and his wife Angie reside in Bellevue, Washington. Together they love spending time with their dog Burt, and enjoy hiking, climbing and skiing in many of the backcountry zones of the Pacific Northwest. Andrew completed his Bachelor of Music in Music Education at the University of Miami (FL) and his Master of Music in Violin Performance at the University of Oregon. His primary music teachers and mentors include Kathy Hafner and Kathryn Lucktenburg.
