OLA Teaching Fellow
A native of Dallas, Texas, Violinist Alexis Shambley moved to Cincinnati in 2014 to pursue her Bachelor of music in Violin performance at the College-Conservatory of Music. She will graduate with her Master of Music as a Diversity Fellow with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in 2020. She has performed with orchestras including the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, and the Richmond Symphony Orchestra. In 2018, Alexis received a GRAMMY nomination for her performance with the National Orchestral Institute Philharmonic on Naxos’s American Classics CD. In 2019, she became a founding member of the Contemporary ensemble New Downbeat. In addition to being an orchestral musician, Alexis is an avid chamber musician and teacher. She is very passionate about the success of People of Color and Women in music and hopes to help diversify American Orchestras through teaching.
