If you want to immerse yourself in the world of woodwind, brass, or percussion instruments, look no further than Pacific Music Institute’s Wind Ensemble program. Our band program offers an unparalleled musical experience through workshops, clinics, and ensembles. It doesn’t matter what instrument you play – we’re sure to have something that will blow you away!
At PMI, we aim to give you the tools you need to take your musicianship to the next level. In our daily 90-minute instrument clinics, students learn techniques unique to their instrument in a fun and supportive environment. Each clinic is led by the best of Hawai‘i’s local music teachers.
In addition to the instrument clinics, students take part in our full band, which was conducted by Grant Okamura at PMI 2022. The ensemble is a great way for students to learn how to listen to other instruments and play in a large group.
Oboe instructor and former PMI student, Dr. Alex Hayashi, shares his thoughts on the program:
More than just music lessons: Reed Making Workshops
Along with teaching our students musical techniques, we also teach them other essential skills, such as reed making. The reed making workshops allow each student to find their own preference and create the perfect reeds for their needs. Wind Ensemble student Jeny has been playing the oboe for 6 years! Her favorite part about PMI is seeing how people make reeds. “It’s good to see everyone learning and experiencing something new,” she said.
Pacific Music Institute offers a range of programs, spanning various skill levels, instruments, and genres. Read more about our various programs and subscribe to our email list to be the first to learn about PMI 2023!
