A Melting Pot for Music Students

Music is universal, transcending the barriers of language and culture to bring people together. At Pacific Music Institute, our summer music camp gives local, mainland, and international students an opportunity to make friends with people who enjoy making music as much as they do. Join us in sharing the love of music through some of the most inspiring workshops, performances, and cultural experiences that you’ll ever find in a summer program anywhere in the world!

The Student Experience - Faith's Story

Faith

Faith attended PMI 2022 as a student from New York. Here’s what she had to say about her experience:

"My favorite thing about PMI is definitely the people I've met. We go to lunch after every single practice we have. We're even motivated to squeeze in a few extra practices because we really enjoy being with each other and part of a group.

Coming from the east coast, a lot of the social cultures are different. I've made a lot of great friends and everyone is very welcoming here. It's one big happy community."

The Instructors

Faculty

One of the things that makes Pacific Music Institute stand out from other music programs is the instructors. You’ll be learning from some of the best in the world, who are passionate about music and teaching. They’ll give you one-on-one attention to help you improve your skills.

PMI Artistic Director, Joe Stepec, is inspired by the faculty.

"We are really blessed to have amazing faculty here at the Pacific Music Institute. Not only do we welcome some of our teachers in Hawaiʻi, who are just incredible and such a fixture of our community, but we also welcome teachers from the mainland as well. We really aspire to create a family bond with all of the faculty here and I think we've really succeeded at that and that is something that makes PMI really unique."

Learn About Hawaiʻi's Culture

Hawaii Culture

The location of Pacific Music Institute sets it apart from many other music programs. Hosted on the beautiful Hawaiian Island of O‘ahu, PMI is a summer camp for students who want to learn about music in a unique cultural setting. Through our ʻUkulele Workshop, taught by top local musicians Kalaʻe Camarillo and Mika Kane, students can learn the cultural significance of this cherished instrument.
